Ron Holzhey

I am a passionate all-rounder in the areas of web and print design, whose core discipline is the development of web-based front-end and back-end solutions.

In 2018 I successfully completed a retraining as a media designer for digital and print with a focus on web design to improve my skills.

Skills

Web Design

I have been working with web design since 2006. Starting with customizing templates for different PHP-Nuke distros. Always interested in the possibilities of CSS and JavaScript. Later fascinated by xHTML, CSS3 and jQuery I built my first own framework. After starting HTML5 I fell in love with Bootstrap while working with Wordpress and other CMS.

Print Media

I created my first flyer in 1992 on an AMIGA 4000SE with Deluxe Paint and Imagine. Always with a faible for fonts and typography. Later I used early versions of Corel Draw on a Windows box to create some flyers for events. Currently I use Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign for my print projects.

PHP Solutions

I started with customisations of PHP-Nuke forks that lead to some Open Source projects too. Besides this, I am contributing to a CMS community also, and I have written a whole gallery of work that includes complex radio management tools for users, playlists and shows, plugins and themes for WordPress. These creations are specifically linked to web design and usability.

Operating Systems

First experience made in school with pure BASIC on a Robotron KC 85/87. Later I was a big AMIGA fanboy with an A500 and A4000SE. Since 1994 I have been working with Windows, Linux and MacOS. While creating an internet radio project in 2011, I fell in love with Linux, which I have been using for websites and audio streaming solutions.
